Marcella "Sally" Seefeld, 81, of Rural Martin and Harvey, ND died on Sunday, March 6, 2022 at the Sanford Hospice House on Broadway in Fargo, ND.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 11, 2022 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Selz, ND.  The prayer service will be at 7 p.m. on Thursday at the church with the rosary prior to the prayer service.

Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday at the Hertz Funeral Home in Harvey followed by visitation including a prayer service at 7 p.m. at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Selz, ND.

Sally was born August 30, 1940 on the family farm northwest of Selz, ND to Joe and Katherine (Kroll) Vetter. She grew up on the family farm and attended the Sampson #1 country school in Pierce County.  Sally met the love of her life, Francis at the church they both attended, and their first date was to a dance in Orrin. She married Francis Seefeld on September 18, 1961 at St. Anthony's in Selz, ND. The wedding was an all day and evening event.  They made their home on a farm northwest of Harvey and were blessed with two children, Gerard and Lisa. They settled into their farm near Clifton and made it a beautiful place in which they took great pride and joy.  After their retirement from farming they lived part time in Harvey and at the farm. Sally kept busy growing and tending to her beautiful flower and vegetable gardens.  When asked if it was hard work she would reply, "You better believe it." Her zucchini patch produced so well she shared it's abundance with friends in the surrounding counties!  Gifting garden produce to friends and relatives demonstrated her generous nature.  Her green thumb was evident with her beautiful red geraniums which were her favorite and the many other colorful flowers planted in the farmyard. Sally enjoyed reading cookbooks and trying new recipes.  She was a great cook and baker and hostess, making sure everyone had plenty to eat, including the cats on the farm.  A couple of the family favorites were creamed eggs, bacon and toast and chocolate cake with homemade frosting, homemade dumplings and watermelon. Homemade ice cream was enjoyed by all.  She enjoyed gathering with family and friends, making homemade meals while visiting and playing cards around the table.  She had a passion for crocheting and her children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews were all recipients of a beautiful afghan.  She also made many potholder sets.  She learned German at an early age and could carry on a full conversation with others in person and over the phone. Her great pride was being with her family.  Her legacy will be remembered as one filled with love and laughter and carried in the hearts and lives of all who knew and loved her. She was a member of the St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Christian Mother's and Ladies Aid and sang in the church choir.  Reciting the Rosary was very important to her.

Left with fond memories of a life well lived are her loving husband of 60 years, Francis; son Gerard (Cindy) Seefeld, daughter Lisa (Jeff) Backen, all of Fargo; grandsons, Benjamin  Backen, Tyler Backen (Kaydi) and Kaniel Seefeld (Kaitlyn); brother Steve (Linda) Vetter; sisters, Darlene (Jerry) Axtman, and Gladys (Linus) Hager; sisters-in-law, Cathy Seefeld, Delilah Volk, Rita (Jerry) Weippert; brother-in-law, Arnold (Rose) Seefeld; nieces, nephews and friends.  Sally was preceded in death by her parents Joe and Katherine Vetter; brothers-in-law, Leon Seefeld and Gerald Volk.
