Maggie Brodehl, 99, Harvey died Saturday, April 21, 2012 at the St. Aloisius Nursing Home in Harvey.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 26, 2012 at First Lutheran Church, Harvey, ND.
Burial will be in Sunnyside Cemetery, Harvey, ND.
Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday April 25, 2012 at the Hertz Funeral Home, Harvey, ND.
Maggie was born on March 10, 1913 at Harvey, North Dakota. Maggie was the daughter of Mike and Mary (Hauser) Schlenker. She was raised on the family farm near Manfred, ND along with 9 siblings. Maggie attended country school near their farm home near Manfred. Maggie's childhood was filled with many antics on the farm and fishing for bullheads in the nearby James River with her sisters, brothers and neighborhood friends. It was during this time she developed her hard work ethic and love of the countryside.
Maggie married Edwin Brodehl on September 22, 1933 in Fessenden, ND. They made their home on the Christian Brodehl (Edwin's parents) farm south of Harvey. In 1970 they moved into Harvey. In September of 2006 they celebrated their 73rd wedding Anniversary. Edwin died on December 15, 2006.
Maggie was very active in Farmers Union serving as a Local and County Youth Director for 20 years and served on the Local and County Farmers Union Board. She was a member of the Hillside Homemakers for 50 years, WSAC, Silver Hair Legislature, Senior Citizens, and Eagles Auxiliary. She enjoyed quilting, crafting, and bowling on a league for many years. Maggie and Edwin enjoyed a lot of years of traveling together.
Maggie was a member of the First Lutheran Church of Harvey.
Maggie is survived by her children, Arvilla (Jerry) Peerboom, Goodrich, ND, Ronald (Faye) Brodehl, Mesa, AZ, and Virgil (Shirley) Brodehl, Harvey, ND; four grandchildren, Craig (Barb) Peerboom of Goodrich, ND, Rhonda (Kevin) Massine, Minot, ND, Kristen (Josh) Amundson, Fargo, ND, and Sara (Dave) Burgard, Harvey, ND; eight great-grandchildren, Cody and Austin Massine, Alexis, and Aliya Amundson, Lindsay and Devin Burgard and Cory and Mandy Peerboom; sister, Evangeline Faul and her friend Bob Peterman of Lodi, California, one brother, John (Irene) Schlenker of Durant, Oklahoma, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Maggie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edwin; three grandchildren; Kevin Peerboom, Andrea Brodehl, and Randy Brodehl; six sisters, Lydia Krueger, Emma Schmidt, Elsie Baier, Martha Meisner, Tillie Decker, Clara Werner; brother, Jake Schlenker. Maggie will be missed dearly by her family, friends, and those who took care of her at the St. Aloisius Care Center.
