Magdalena Cecilia Thomas, 90, Harvey, ND died Friday, May 1, 2020 at the St. Aloisius Nursing Home.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 20, 2020 at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Harvey, ND.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The funeral will be streamed live on the YouTube link https://youtu.be/PIKs_vs1rxM

Magdalena was born on March 1, 1930 in Minot, ND to Andrew and Marion (Vetsch) Volk.  She grew up on the family farm near Orrin, ND.  She also attended country school.  Magdalena married Frank Thomas on June 7, 1948 in Orrin.  They lived and farmed with Frank's parents until eventually purchasing it.  They operated a diversified dairy farm for many years.  Frank died in 2011 and she continued to live on the farm until entering the St. Aloisius Nursing Home in 2016.

Her hobbies were gardening, cake decorating, cooking and baking.  She shared her produce and baked goods with neighbors and relatives.  Magdalena loved to read, was very articulate and made it a priority for her to obtain her GED later in life.

Magdalena was a member of the St. Cecilia Catholic Church and Catholic Daughters of the Americas. She volunteered for many years fixing hair at the St. Aloisius Nursing Home.

Survivors include sons, Patrick (Jamie Falde) of Loretto, MN, Brian (Becky) of Baldwin, ND, Brad (Debbie) of Nashville, Arkansas, Wally (Deb) of Owatonna, MN; daughter, Ronda (Buck Marsalla) Thomas of Tuscon, AZ; sister, Marcella Johnson of Williston; 14 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 2 step grandchildren; 7 step great-grandchildren.

Magdalena was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Jason; siblings, Elizabeth, Marie, Walburga, George, Alois, Joe, Paul, Peter, Hedvig and Floretta.   Memorials preferred to the St. Cecilia Catholic Church or St. Aloisius Nursing Home in Harvey.
