Obituary

Lyla Roerick 80, rural Harvey died Tuesday April 7, 2015 at the Trinity Medical Center of Minot. Funeral services will be held at the St. Anthony Catholic Church of Selz on Monday April 13, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. Visitation will held at the Hertz Funeral Home of Harvey on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Prayer services will be at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home on Sunday. Burial will be held at the church cemetery.

Lyla was born on February 24, 1935 near Barton, ND. Lyla was the daughter of Emil and Lillian (Larvick) Kjetlien. She grew up and attended the Dewey Township grade school until the 8 th grade. Lyla then attended the Rugby High School where she took a secretarial course. During her junior and senior years of high school she worked for the Pierce County Abstract Company. She also worked on the family farm.   Lyla married Edward Roerick on June 22, 1954 in Rugby. In 1958 they moved to a farm in Southern Pierce County. Lyla began working for the Farmers Union Oil Company in Harvey on September 6, 1966 she retired from the Farmers Union Oil Company on November 3, 1999.

Lyla was a member of the St. Anthony Catholic Church of Selz; VFW Auxiliary and the Golden Age Club both of Esmond. She was also a member of Sons of Norway.

During her retirement she played in the Frozen Fingers Band in Minot. Lyla also played at many events in the Rugby and Harvey areas. Lyla enjoyed calling bingo, crocheting, bowling, fishing, baking, and traveling.

Lyla had an unconditional love for her family.

Lyla is survived by her; two daughters, Lynda (Sidney) Mack of Fargo, Karen (Kelly) Muscha of Harvey; six sons, Gary (Marvilyn) Roerick of Rugby, Curtis (Arlene) Roerick of Rugby, Richard (Gaylene) Roerick of Harvey, Allen Roerick of Harvey, Robert (Denise) Roerick of Rugby, Mark (Cindy) Roerick of Harvey; 14 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; 4 step grandchildren; 1 step great-grandchild; sister, Eileen Pieterick of Rugby

Lyla was preceded in death by her parents; son Kent Roerick; husband, Edward on April 1, 2015; grandson, Steven Roerick.
