Ludwig Vetter, 93, Harvey, ND died Sunday, June 19, 2011 at the St. Aloisius Nursing Home, Harvey, ND.
Funeral Mass will be held at the St. Anthony Catholic Church of Selz, North Dakota on Thursday June 23, 2011 at 10:30 a.m.
Visitation will be held at the Hertz Funeral Home of Harvey on Wednesday from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with prayer services at 7:00 p.m. at the Hertz Funeral Home.
Burial will be held at the St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery.
Ludwig was born on April 16, 1918 near Selz. He was the son of Steve and Katherine (Weninger) Vetter. He grew up and attended school near Selz. Ludwig married Adeline Schwan on October 29, 1940 at Orrin, ND. They lived and farmed on the family homestead. Adeline died on September 24, 1970. He then married Lena (Schwan) Frieson on March 30, 1973 in Minot. They moved to Harvey in November of 1974. He was a member of the St. Cecilia Catholic Church of Harvey and former member of the St. Anthony Catholic Church of Selz; Knights of Columbus of Harvey and a member of the Wells Eagles Aerie 3080 of Harvey. Ludwig served as a trustee of the St. Anthony Catholic Church and on the Pierce County Welfare Board and Hillsdale Township school board.
Ludwig is survived by his wife, Lena Vetter of Harvey; two sons and daughters-in-law, Delanis and Elaine Vetter of Harvey, Lloyd and Sharon Vetter of Center City, Minnesota; daughters and sons-in-law, Betty and Ralph Martin of Minot, Sharon and Jim Ell of Minot; 15 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; stepsons, Larry Frieson of Walhalla, ND, Jeff Frieson of Mandan.
Ludwig was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Adeline (Schwan); son, Ralph Vetter; stepsons, LeRoy and Arnie Frieson; brothers, Hans Vetter, Frank Vetter, Joe Vetter; sisters, Eva Leismeister and Barbara Burgard.
