Lucille "Lucy" Wiedmeier, 92, Bismarck, formerly of Harvey passed away in her sleep at her home in Bismarck on Tuesday, November 9, 2021 where she was under the care of her oldest daughter, Janice, who was her caregiver since 2012.

Graveside services will be at the St. Cecilia Catholic Cemetery on Saturday, November 20, 2021 at 12 noon.  Rosary recitation will be at Hertz Funeral Home on Saturday at 11:15 a.m. and will then proceed to the cemetery after the rosary.

Lucy was born on April 13, 1929 on the family farm five miles northeast of Harvey, ND.  She was the daughter of John and Helen (Volk) Zerr.  She was baptized on April 28, 1929 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Selz and was confirmed there in 1940.  Lucy attended a one room country school.  In the sixth grade she began attending school in Harvey and graduated from the Harvey High School in 1946.  She then attended and graduated from the Aakers College for Secretarial in 1947.  She was employed at Herberger's in Grand Forks before beginning work at the First State Bank in Harvey in the loan department.  Lucille married Richard Gustaf Wiedmeier on April 6, 1950 at the St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Harvey.  They moved to her parents farm northeast of Harvey in the early 1950's.  They raised registered hogs, registered Angus and registered Holstein cows.  Lucille and Richard maintained and raised a huge garden for her family and many other family members.  Lucy milked cows by hand until there were electric milk machines, used a cream separator, made homemade butter, cooked, baked bread from scratch, grilled, butchered, wrapped and smoked their own meats for the year, along with butchering and canning chickens,  knew how to use tools for repairs, washed clothes in a two – tub wringer washer until an automatic one was purchased after running water was plumbed into the house in 1968.  In the 1960's she and Richard managed and worked at the Harvey Veteran's Club and went on to purchase the Pioneer Bar.  She later was a flagger for Border States Paving, Inc. of Fargo.  She retired and they continued to reside in Harvey.  Richard died on August 3, 2007.  Lucy moved to Bismarck in May 2012.

She was a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Harvey.  Her hobbies included bowling where she won numerous trophies and tournaments.  Lucy was past president of the Wells Eagles Auxiliary # 3080 in Harvey from 1985 – 1986.

Lucy is survived by five children; Janice Wiedmeier of Bismarck, Barbara (Ernie) Svenkerud, Park Rapids, MN, Johnny Wiedmeier of Selz; Tommy (Laurie) Wiedmeier of Harvey and Mary Lou Wiedmeier of Bismarck; 11 grandchildren, Janet, Tiffanei, Helma, Nathan, Kristel, Lukas, Levi (Amanda), Eric (Claudia), Shane, Kenny and Jamie; 10 great-grandchildren, Jax, Cyprus, Cilas, Maria Fernanda, Lily, Halle, Zada, Aiden, Tajah, Noah; four step great-grandchildren, Clara, Christopher, Lucas, Maggie; step great-great-grandchild Kaden and Asher.
