Lowell was born on February 7, 1959 in Harvey, ND to Lawrence and Audrey (Grochow) Dusek. He grew up on the family farm north of Martin. Lowell attended the White Township School through the third grade and then attended school in Anamoose where he graduated in 1978. After high school while working stacking flax bales, Lowell was asked by his railroad employed father if he wanted to work on the railroad. That began Lowell's 42 year career with the Burlington Northern and later BNSF Railroad Company.
Lowell married Linda Sommer on September 25, 1982 at St. Martin Lutheran Church in Anamoose. Their home was in Anamoose and is where they raised their three children, L.J., Lucas, and Londa. In recent years they enjoyed spending time at Antelope Lake, camping with family and friends.
Lowell and Linda were a team and worked together on keeping close ties with family and friends. Lowell's highlight of any day was spending time with his grandchildren. Lowell loved to entertain and developed his cooking skills savored by family and friends. Making sausage, smoking meats and preparing horseradish were annual activities. He was an avid gardener and produced bountiful vegetables of which he pickled, canned, cooked, and shared. Other hobbies included playing cards, especially pinochle and playing corn hole with friends and competing in local corn hole tournaments. He also fished often, hunted deer and other game. He even raised buffalo.
Lowell was a member of the First Lutheran Church and Eagles Club in Harvey, the Brotherhood of Maintenance Way, North American Bison Association. He was a former volunteer at the Anamoose Fire Department and active in the Anamoose Civic Club. Currently he was caring for the flowers on the main street in Anamoose.
Lowell is survived by his wife, Linda of Anamoose; daughter, Londa (Brandon) Weninger of Lincoln; sons, L.J. (Patti) Dusek of Martin, Lucas (Sasha) Dusek of Garrison; six grandchildren, Cohen Dusek, Callen Dusek, Wyatt Weninger, Elsie Dusek, Sloane Dusek, Rhett Weninger and a baby boy Dusek due in September; brothers, Russell (Alice) of Stanley, James (Anita) of New Salem; sisters, Susan Corwin of Jamestown, Deborah (Larry) Schoepp of Lakota, Janice (Stanley) Degenstein of Gwinner, Joan (Chip) Chiappiti of Sun City West, AZ, Grace (John) Mlnarik of Forman, Annette Dusek, Reno, NV, Judy (Tony) Lill of Langdon; sister-in-law, Mary Dusek of Moorhead, brother-in-law John Sommer of Martin; numerous nephews and nieces.
