Lorraine Christenson, 92 of Harvey died Thursday, March 10, 2022 at the St. Aloisius Medical Center in Harvey.  Funeral services will be held at the Seventh-day Adventist Church of Harvey at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 15, 2022. Visitation will be on Monday March 14, from 3 p.m.  to 7 p.m. at the Hertz Funeral Home, Harvey.  Burial will be in the Hillsdale Cemetery rural Harvey.

Lorraine was born April 28,1929 near Bowdon, ND to Jacob and Eva (Gillig) Knittel.  She was raised on a small farm between Wing and Arena, ND, the oldest of eight children. She attended school in Arena and remembers walking home three miles with her younger brothers and sisters.  As a teenager she worked as a clerk in a grocery store in Wing.  She later came to the Harvey area to work for her aunt Agatha Huber, who lived just west of Harvey.  While there she met her future husband Gordon Christenson whom she later married on October 23, 1946 in McClusky, ND.  They began their life together on the farm southwest of Harvey soon thereafter.  Together they raised three children; Gary, Kelly and Connie. Their fourth child, Kathy, died a couple of days after her birth.  They spent many happy days on the farm with their children and Gordons parents, Gust and Clara and their youngest daughter Donna. In 2015 Gordon moved into the nursing home in Harvey. In 2017 they celebrated 71 years of marriage.  Gordon passed away on March 11, 2018.   Lorraine remained on the farm these last four years.

Lorraine was very active in the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Harvey including being a Dorcas leader and Bible school teacher.  She loved teaching and leading the lesson study. Lorraine was a member of the Hillsdale Township Homemakers club, art club president and loved taking care of her family. Along with raising three kids, gardening and her artwork, she milked cows and helped with farm work. Her hobbies included gardening, especially flowers and painting.  Her home is filled with dozens of paintings; some of which she proudly exhibited at the Wells County Fair.  Flower gardens were also a passion.  Their farmyard was quite beautiful with numerous flower gardens.

Lorraine is survived by her three children; Gary (Rosie) Christenson, Kelly (Eileen) Christenson and Connie Christenson; four grandchildren, Sheila (Lee) Kupersmith, Brandon Christenson, Erik (Sarah) Christenson, Shaun (Dana) Christenson; two step grandchildren, Anthony (Anne) Theisen and Coreen Theisen; eleven great grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Caroline Christman, Leola Bluebell and Evelyn Ellis.

Lorraine was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon; one daughter, Kathy; three brothers Dick, Arnold and David and one sister Lillian.
