Llewellyn Hoffner, 71, Harvey died suddenly on Saturday, September 8, 2012 at the St. Aloisius Hospital in Harvey.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2012 at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Harvey, ND.
Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 11 with a Rosary and Prayer Service at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Hertz Funeral Home, Harvey, ND.
Llewellyn Adam Hoffner was born on July 28, 1941 on the family farm northwest of Esmond, ND. He was the son of Sebastian and Theresia (Gefroh) Hoffner. He grew up on the family farm and attended school in Esmond. He farmed and milked cows for many years. Llewellyn purchased the family farm in 1968 and continued farming until his death. Llewellyn was united in marriage to Arlene Arnold on October 4, 1969 at the St. Boniface Catholic Church in Esmond. They moved to Harvey in the fall of 1989.
Llewellyn enjoyed any card game with pinochle being his specialty. He enjoyed reading, doing puzzles, watching Fox News and kept a diary since 1997. His last diary entry was on September 7, 2012. "Dad" loved the good earth and tilling the land. He was very proud of his farm partnership with his son, Allen.
Llewellyn was a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church and served on the church council. He was a member of the Wells Eagles Aerie in Harvey. He was as an interim board member of the Fessenden Co-op Association and was instrumental with the Esmond and Fillmore Elevators merging with the Fessenden Co-op.
Llewellyn is survived by his wife, Arlene, Harvey; son, Allen of Harvey; three daughters, Heidi (Michael) Aguilar of Grand Forks; Carmen (Mike Kulackoski) of Bismarck, Faithe Hoffner of Moorhead; two grandchildren, Saffron and Lennon; four brothers, Sylvester of Esmond, Albion of Devils Lake, Leander of Minot and Serenus of Bismarck; two sisters, Lavinia Hopkins of Garrison and Carlotta Goldade of Minot. Llewellyn was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters, Isabelle Ripplinger, Alice Kirkpatrick and Valeria Hoffner. May Llewellyn's soul and all the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God. Rest in Peace. Amen.
