Linda
Thomas
September 25, 1950 – December 4, 2023
Linda Thomas, 73 of Harvey passed away Monday, December 4, 2023 at St. Aloisius Hospital of Harvey.
Committal services will be held Thursday, June 13, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery in Mandan, ND. She will be laid to rest alongside her husband of 50 years, DeLanis. Chad invites those attending to gather before the service between 1 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. Thursday, June 13, 2024 at EverSpring Suites, 180 East Bismarck Expressway, Bismarck, ND.
Linda was born on September 25, 1950 in Bismarck, ND to the late John and Esther (Kurle) Hausauer. She spent her first 12 years on a farm North of Wilton, ND. In 1962 her and her family moved to New Salem, ND where John and Esther owned and operated the Casa Loma. From there they moved to Bismarck and then to Maddock, ND, where Linda graduated from Maddock High School. It was during this time she met her future husband, DeLanis Thomas.
Linda married DeLanis Thomas on June 13, 1970 at St. Anthony Church, in Selz, North Dakota. They made their home on the Thomas farm near Wellsburg, North Dakota. They had three children: Rachel, born March 31, 1971, Chad, born July 12, 1976, and Jason, born April 6, 1978.
Linda spent most of her life as a devoted wife and mother. She loved to garden, can vegetables, and make homemade pickles. Linda and DeLanis moved into Harvey in 1992 so the kids could be closer for school activities. Even living in Harvey, she always had a garden.
Linda and DeLanis were partners and investors in MM Restaurant Group, Grand Forks. Linda served as President, and when they would visit, she would always ensure that the staff kept busy. Despite complaining about it, Linda was always willing to dog sit Chad's dogs so he could go on vacation. She would always overfeed them and give them lots of treats.
The past few years Linda had some health issues, but she remained stubborn and always pulled through. However, the past few months she quickly declined and had trouble getting around.
Linda will be forever missed by her loving son Chad, Harvey; her granddaughter, NeTasha, Devils Lake; brothers Kenneth (Margie), Prineville, Oregon; and Brian (Dianna), Gold Canyon, Arizona; sister Virginia (Bill) May, Menoken, ND. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law Helen (Howard) Schmid, Oberon, ND; Lenora Thomas (Andover, MN) and nieces and nephews.
Linda was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years DeLanis, on December 21, 2020; her son Jason on September 2, 2012, her daughter Rachel on January 11, 2021, her parents and a sister Carol.
