Linda Appelt, 69, Harvey, ND formerly of Surrey, ND died Thursday, October 2, 2025 at Trinity Hospital in Minot.  Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at Hertz Funeral Home, Harvey.

The interment will be Monday, October 13, 2025, at 3 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Garden Cemetery, Minot, ND.

Linda JoAnn was born on September 29, 1956 in Harvey, ND to Harold and Theresa (Thompson) Patzer.  The family lived on a farm near Hurdsfield, ND.  Linda attended elementary school in Hurdsfield.  The family later moved to a farm south of Harvey.  Linda graduated from Harvey High School in 1974.  After high school she worked in several Harvey restaurants.  She was once married to Rodney Appelt and they had two children, Amanda and Stacy.  They moved to Lansford, then to Minot and in 1986 to Surrey.  Linda operated "Ms. Linda's Daycare" in Surrey from 2002 to 2007.  She then worked at Schatz's Econostop in Minot where she was the prep cook. In 2011 she went to work for Minot Commission on Aging and retired in September 2021 as head cook for the Meals on Wheels program.  Linda met Steve McLain in 2007 and they were together until his death in May 2021.

Linda enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening, canning, crafting, playing bingo and going to the casino.  She also loved spending time at a lake home on Devils Lake.  Linda took over for her mother doing the hosting and cooking on holidays and for other family gatherings.

Linda is survived by two daughters, Amanda (Jason) New of Minot, Stacy (Christian) Cseh of Surrey; two grandchildren, Griffen New and Chloe Cseh; great-grandson Emanuel New; sister, Donna Patzer of Bonny Lake, WA; three brothers, Jeff (Mary) Patzer of Devils Lake, Kelley (Marie) Patzer of Elko, Nevada, Jamey Patzer of Harvey; sister-in-law Sheila Patzer; nieces, nephews and cousins.  Linda was preceded in death by her parents; brother Brad Patzer; nephew Michael Patzer; and partner Steve McLain.
