Lila B Martin, 89, Fargo, formerly Harvey, ND passed away early Friday, April 26 ^, 2019 at the Villa Maria Nursing Home surrounded in love by immediate family.

She entered the nursing home mid-February when she experienced an unexplained deep vein blood clot.  She underwent physical and occupational therapy and quickly became a beloved resident.  She was referred for Hospice Care just days before she became one of God's Heavenly Angels.

Lila was born in Harvey on October 6, 1929.  She was the daughter of Carl E. and Josephine E. (Hanson) Knudson and the sister to H. Orville and Clayton Knudson.  She grew up and attended school in Harvey.  Lila was united in marriage to Alvin Martin on June 28, 1955 at Trinity Bethany Lutheran Church. They lived and farmed South of Harvey until moving to their home on Harvey's Riverside Addition where they owned and operated Al's Trailer Court until 2002.  During this time, she also worked for five years at the St. Aloisius Nursing Home.  Alvin passed away August 17, 2004.

Lila lived in the family home until January 15, 2015. She then moved to Fargo to be near her daughters and their families. Lila lived independently until February of this year.

Lila was a member of Harvey's Trinity Bethany Lutheran Church where she served as Treasurer for many years. She enjoyed her family, friends and church.  Lila loved being a wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.  Being able to attend family functions, musical, spiritual, theatrical and sporting events brought her much joy. She even tailgated at a couple Bison games!

Lila loved and accepted people for who they were and looked for the good in everyone. She walked in faith, humbly met challenges and opened her heart to every person she met. Those lucky to have known her are better because of it. Her kind and gentle heart will be forever missed.

Lila is survived by two daughters, Bonnie (Greg) Krueger and Karen (Marv Hestbeck) Martin, all of Fargo and two sons, Greg (LaRae) Martin of Martin, ND and Bruce Martin, Harvey. Eight grandchildren, Corey (Erin) Krueger, Kristi (Clayton) Krueger Roscoe, Kimberly (Jimmy) Krueger Tehan, Kelli (Jason) Jenkins, Kiara and Skyler Stroh all of Fargo, Whitney (Mychal) Mente, California and Christopher (Fran Knoll) Nolden, Bismarck.  Ten great-grandchildren, Lila and Lee Krueger, Aberlee (fiance' Logan Macziewski) Ana and Ava Wild, Audree and Andrew Roscoe and Tripten Tehan, all of Fargo, Ethan Nolden of Bismarck, and Emily Nolden of Minot; sisters-in-law Pauline Knudson, Fargo and Clarice Martin of Minot; many loving nieces, nephews and friends.

Lila was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers; sister-in-law Edna Thon and a niece JoAnne Knudson.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, May 1, 2019 at First Lutheran Church in Harvey, ND.

Visitation will be held at Hertz Funeral Home in Harvey Tuesday 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM

Prayer services will be at the Hertz Funeral Home of Harvey on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m.

Burial will be in the Sunnyside Cemetery, Harvey.
