Obituary

Levi "Pete" Haluska, 78, of Harvey died Monday August 17, 2020 at the University of Minnesota Hospital in Minneapolis.

Funeral services will be held at the St. Cecilia Catholic Church of Harvey on Friday August 21, 2020 at 10:30 a.m.

Visitation will be held at the St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Harvey on Thursday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. with Prayer Services following at 7 p.m. in the church. CDC recommendations including social distancing, hand sanitizing, wearing masks, and staying away if not feeling well are strongly encouraged. Burial will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Hurdsfield.

Pete was born on March 12, 1942 at Harvey, ND. He was the oldest of four children born to Ed and Esther (Otto) Haluska.

He attended grade school at Chaseley and graduated from Bowdon High School in 1961.  While attending school he was tagged with the name "Pete" which stuck with him all his life.  Pete grew up on the family farm and took over the farm after the retirement of his father.  He spent his entire life farming.  He served on the Chaseley Township Board for many years.  Pete was a member of the St. Cecilia Catholic Church and was once a member of the Lions Club in Hurdsfield and Bowdon.  Pete married Ally Baumbach on September 15, 2007 in Harvey where they made their home.

Pete had a love for sports.  He began playing sports at a young age and continued to play softball into his later years.  He especially enjoyed watching professional baseball and football.  He also enjoyed the games at the casinos and made his annual trips to Las Vegas.

Pete is survived by his wife, Ally of Harvey; two brothers, Marlin (Connie) of McAllen, TX, Jim of Bowdon; sister, Diana (Jerry) Gust of Woodworth; stepson, Kevin (Diane) Baumbach of Grafton; 5 step grandsons, Dustin, Wayne, Brandon, Jordell and Nickolas Baumbach; 6 step great grandchildren and one more to be born soon; one nephew and four nieces.

Pete was preceded in death by his parents; stepson and daughter-in-law, Robert and his wife Debra Baumbach.
