Leroy Nelson's Obituary
LeRoy Nelson, 68 of Harvey died Tuesday March 17, 2015 at his daughter's home in Jamestown. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 21 at the Hertz Funeral Home, Harvey, ND. Burial will be at a later date at the St. Petri Cemetery, Harvey, ND.
Visitation will be Friday from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. and one hour prior to service at the funeral home.
LeRoy was born on January 31, 1947 in Harvey, ND. He was the son of Gust and Mathilda (Rittenbach) Nelson. LeRoy grew up and attended grade school south of Harvey. As a young man he worked for the Nelson Auto and Nelson Implement. In 1972 LeRoy began working for the Burlington Northern Railroad he retired due to health reasons in 1998. LeRoy served in the North Dakota National Guard. LeRoy married Diana LaMonda on October 6, 1979 in Minot, North Dakota.
Leroy was a member of the Goodrich American Legion. The NRA and the North American Fur Traders Association.
LeRoy enjoyed hunting, trapping, and playing pinochle with his friends and family. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren where he taught them the finer things of nature.
LeRoy is survived by his wife, Diana of Harvey; children, Lee (Chantelle) Nelson of San Tan Valley, AZ, Barb (Michael) Perry of Minifie, CA, Lorie Miller of Jamestown, ND; Tracey (Carol) McConnell of Bismarck, Kelly (Sara Weinmann) LaMonda of Harvey; 14 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; brothers, Ben Sauter, Allan Sauter, Dennis Sauter, sister, Eleanor Johnson; several nieces and nephews.
LeRoy was preceded in death by his parents, son, Ronald McConnell; brothers, Raymond Sauter, Reinhold Sauter, Marvin Sauter.
