LeRoy Bechthold 90 of Harvey died Monday October 26, 2015 at the St. Aloisius Nursing Home in Harvey.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, October 29 at the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Harvey.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, October 28 at Hertz Funeral Home, Harvey.
Burial will be in Sunnyside Cemetery, Harvey, ND.
LeRoy Bechthold was born on November 26, 1924 near Harvey, ND. He was the son of Henry and Katherine (Tebelius) Bechthold. He grew up on a family farm four and a half miles southwest of Harvey and attended school at a country school two miles southwest of Harvey.
LeRoy married Irene Walz on May 29, 1949 in Harvey, ND.
They lived and farmed southwest of Harvey. He also worked as a purchaser of flax straw for a number of years in the Harvey area. At a later date they moved into Harvey and he continued farming. He partnered with his son in an auto parts business in the Twin Cities and Irene and LeRoy moved to the Minneapolis area where they lived for a short time before returning to Harvey. They continued to live in Harvey and owned and managed several apartment buildings over the years.
LeRoy was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Harvey. He served on the Farmers Union Oil Company Board in Harvey for nearly 20 years. LeRoy was a charter member of the Wells Eagles Aerie in Harvey.
LeRoy is survived by his wife, Irene of Harvey; daughter and son-in-law, Dixie and Craig Hammargren of Fargo; son and daughter-in-law, Henry and Donna Bechthold of Elk River, MN; four grandchildren; Jessica and Whitney Hammargren; Todd (Kayla) Bechthold and Tarah (Nathan) Stockwell; and four great grandchildren; Parker, Henry, Madelyn and Adeline; numerous other relatives including his cousin and best friend throughout his life, John Schild of Harvey.
LeRoy was preceded in death by his parents; a sister during infancy; brother and sister-in-law, Ray and Elizabeth Bechthold and sister and brother-in-law, Marcella and Art Liebelt.
