Leonard Schneibel, 84 of Harvey died Friday October 12, 2012 at the St. Aloisius Nursing Home in Harvey.
Funeral mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, October 16, 2012 at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Harvey, ND.
Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Monday Oct. 15 at Hertz Funeral Home, Harvey with rosary service at 7 p.m. Monday at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Harvey.
Leonard was born on September 27, 1928 on the family farm near Orrin, ND. He was the son of Sigmund and Katherine (Jaeger) Schneibel. He grew up on the farm and attended the Jefferson Township country school. On November 21, 1951 he entered the United States Marine Corps. He married Anna Massine on February 4, 1952 at Balta, ND. They lived on base at the Camp Pendleton and El Toro Naval stations in California. He was honorably discharged on November 4, 1953. They returned to Harvey. He started working at the Standard Oil Service Station on Harvey's Main Street. He bought the station in 1961 and in 1996 he sold the station and retired.
Leonard was a member of the St. Cecilia Catholic Church and a 50 year member of the Knights of Columbus. He also served on the Harvey Volunteer Fire Department and was a Life Member of the North Dakota Firefighters Association. He served on the Harvey City Council and was a member of the Wells Eagles Aerie, Chamber of Commerce and American Legion Post 28, all in Harvey.
Leonard enjoyed fishing and playing cards especially pinochle.
Leonard is survived by his wife, Ann of Harvey; seven sons, Richard (Ellie) of Harvey, Dean (JoAnn) of Fargo, Dale (Kathy) of Lincoln, ND, Dwight (Rhonda) of Mounds, MN, Darius (Julie) of Fargo, ND, Doran (Kris) of Detroit Lakes, MN, Dana of Richfield, MN; three daughters, JoAnn (Jim) Mock, Philipsburg, PA, Jolene (Bob) LeClerc of Lakeville, MN and Jodie Schneibel of Racine, WI; 23 grandchildren; 2 step grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; 6 step great-grandchildren; four sisters, Elizabeth Marquart, Minot, Rebecca Cusey of Park River, Pauline Wieland of Beresford, SD, Barbara Schafer of Louisville, Montana.
Leonard was preceded in death by his parents; sons, Doug and Duane; grandchildren, Robby Schneibel, Brittany Mock, Elizabeth Schneibel; brothers, Sigmund, Anton, Joe, August, Leo, Maurus, Louis; sisters, Mary Schneibel, Eleanor Neiss, Helen Grad.
