Leona Jans, 87, of Harvey died Sunday December 20, 2020, at the St. Aloisius Hospital of Harvey.  Private services are being held with burial in the Sunnyside Cemetery, Harvey, ND.  The service will be livestreamed on the First Lutheran Church, Harvey Face Book page on Wednesday at 2 p.m.  Visitation will be Tuesday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Hertz Funeral Home, Harvey, ND.

CDC and state guidelines will be followed including a mask requirement at the church and at the funeral home.

Leona was born on May 28, 1933 in Clifton, North Dakota.  She was the daughter of Reinhold and Regina (Appelt) Schlender.  Leona grew up and attended school near Clifton.  She married Theodore Jans on June 26, 1951 in Martin.  They lived and farmed south of Martin.  Ted died on February 4, 2005.  Leona took an active part in the daily farming operation.  She enjoyed camping, fishing, gardening, yard work, and spending time with her grandchildren.  Leona was a member of the Martin United Methodist Church.

Leona is survived by her daughters, Kathleen (Milton) Hase of Martin, Diane (Jeff) Hase of Minot; 8 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren.  Leona was preceded in death by her parents; husband, son, Gerald; grandson, Josh Jans; brother, Art Schlender; sister, Anetha McLain
