Leona Feickert, 82 of rural Martin, ND died Thursday, August 25, 2022 at the St. Aloisius Nursing Home in Harvey.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, August 29 at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Harvey, ND.

Visitation will be at the Hertz Funeral Home of Harvey from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 28 with a rosary/prayer service following at 5 p.m.

Leona Frances (Ganje) Feickert was born on July 10, 1940, in Harvey to Ludwina (Heilman) and Henry Ganje. She was the youngest of their 9 children. Leona grew up in Harvey, North Dakota where she attended St. Cecilia Catholic School and later graduated from Harvey High School.

Leona married the love of her life, Wesley Reinhold Feickert on November 10, 1958 at the St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Harvey.  They raised 3 children on the family farm south of Martin, ND. Leona was a devoted farm wife who kept the farm moving from the inside. She held many roles such as record keeping, field lunches, and transportation. Even through the busy farming seasons, Leona still made sure her kids, and eventually her husband, made it to church on Sunday. She was a lifelong member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church and a member of the Holy Family Society. Her faith held high importance to her, as she prayed the rosary and read her Bible daily.

Leona enjoyed gardening, her flower garden, and doing her nails. She often tried new hobbies, such as ceramics, and proved to have many hidden talents with them. She enjoyed entertaining guests and always welcomed family and friends around the table. She served delicious German meals and her famous Angel Food Cake. Above everything, the most light in Leona's eyes came from spending time with her family. She loved every one of her kids and grandkids unconditionally. Leona was a kind, selfless, and passionate woman. She had a heart of gold and so much love to go around. She was proud of the family she created and made sure to showcase that in her home.

Leona is survived by her husband, Wesley; three children, Devery Feickert of Grand Forks, ND, Kim (Steve) Wetherbee of Pollock, SD, and Kelly (Mary) Feickert of Harvey, ND; six grandchildren, Janna (Jarrod) Wolf, Brittany Feickert, Zachary Feickert, Cortney (Steven) Ficken, Amber (James) Ritterman, and Westen Feickert; six great-grandchildren, Quinlan, Braydon, Lane, Aubree, Declen, and Berklee, along with many extended family members and friends.

Leona was preceded in death by her parents, Ludwina and Henry Ganje, and all her 8 siblings, Angeline, Marcella, Marie, Monica, Carl, Pius, Leonard, and Edward.
