Obituary

Lenora Kemmit 94 of Minot formerly of Anamoose died Wednesday October 14, 2015 at the Souris Valley Care Center of Velva.

Funeral services will be held at the St. Martin Lutheran Church of Anamoose on Monday October 19, 2015 at 10:30 a.m.

Visitation will be held at the Hertz Funeral Home of Harvey on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.

Burial will be in the Sunnyside Cemetery of Harvey.

Lenora was born on May 27, 1921 at American Falls, Idaho. She was the daughter of Gottlieb and Anna (Henne) Adam. The family moved back to a farm south of Martin in 1924 she attended all eight grades in the Martin Public School. Her dad was the school bus driver, a horse drawn canvas covered wagon that held up to 15 children. They were kept warm by a "little pot belly stove" and oftentimes the bus was turned into a sleigh. As a young woman she stayed on the farm and did the chores. Lenora married Albert Kemmit at her parents' farm south of Martin on January 12, 1941. They lived in Anamoose where Lenora and Albert raised their seven children. They continued to live in Anamoose during their retirement years. Albert died on June 16, 1999. She continued to live in Anamoose until moving to Minot in 2006. While in Minot she lived in her own apartment until August of 2014 when she moved to the Brookdale Assisted Living in Minot.

Lenora was a member of the St. Martin Lutheran Church of Anamoose and a former member of the New Alpha Homemakers Club. Lenora loved to sew and quilt. She had five daughters and they never had to buy a dress, she also sewed for other people. Lenora raised a big garden that was a necessity.

Lenora is survived by two daughters, Janice (Henry) Noehre of Magnet, Nebraska and Marcella Jean (Frank) Paulus of Moorhead, MN; 12 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 6 step great-grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren.

Lenora was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Albert; children, sons, Gerald and Russell; daughters, Sandy Thorell, Sharon Kemmit, Vicki Weigel; brothers, Elmer Adam, Martin Adam, Warren Adam; sister, Alvina Wagner.
