Obituary

Lena Weinmann 89 of Harvey died Friday Feb. 26, 2010 at the St. Aloisius Hospital, Harvey. Funeral Mass: St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Harvey on Wednesday March 3, 2010 at 10:30 a.m.

Visitation: Hertz Funeral Home, Harvey, Tuesday 2 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Burial: St. Anthony's Catholic Cemetery, Selz, ND.

Lena Wack was born February 15, 1921 on a farm near Wellsburg, ND to Peter and Annie (Richter) Wack. She was raised on the farm and attended grade school in Wellsburg, ND through eighth grade. Being the oldest, she was needed to help on the family farm. On October 2, 1939, Lena was united in marriage to Nicholas Leintz at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Selz, ND. They made their first home in Lincoln Valley, ND. Then they moved to a farm near Wellsburg before purchasing our current farm in the same area. Throughout the years they farmed the land and raised cattle. Nicholas died on April 27, 1959 and shortly after that Lena moved to Selz, ND with her girls. In 1964 Lena moved to Harvey and worked for St. Aloisius Hospital in Dietary. Several years later she took a cooking position at Harvey High School and later transferred to the BM Hanson Elementary School. On July 30, 1968 Lena was united in marriage to Lee Weinmann at St. Cecilia's Catholic Church in Harvey, ND, where they made their home. Lee died March 17, 1975. After Lena retired she enjoyed making quilts for each of her daughters and grandchildren. She also enjoyed going to church and praying the rosary which was very important to her. Visits from her grandchildren and great-grandchildren always brought smiles and enjoyment to her. She would talk about their visits for a long time after. Lena is survived by her five daughters, Joyce (Paul) Miller, Harvey, Shirley (Bob) Richter, Minot, Judy (Frank) Westman, Mountlake Terrace, WA, Donna (Gary) Oliver, Clarkston, MI,Susan (Lyle) Zimbelman, Minot; seventeen grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary (Otto) Volk, Harvey, Anne (Andy) Axtman, Harvey, Barbara (Adam) Keller, Harvey, Lorraine Richter, Kent, WA, Sharon Held, Hankinson, sisters-in-law, Alice Wack, Esmond, Margaret Lucas, Harvey, brothers-in-law: Henry (Leota) Leintz, Fargo; Marvin (Leona) Weinmann, Fargo; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; Lena was preceded in death by her parents, Peter and Annie Wack, husbands, Nicholas Leintz and Lee Weinmann; grandson, Bobby Richter; great-granddaughter, Jordon Tescher; brothers, Albert Wack Sr. and James Wack; sisters, Kathryn Wack, Helen Bernice Wack, Regina Kessler.
