Lena Vetter, 94, of Bismarck formerly of Harvey died Friday, February 24, 2017 at the CHI St. Alexius Medical Center in Bismarck.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 2 at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Harvey, ND.

Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. with rosary and prayer services at 4 p.m. on Wednesday at Hertz Funeral Home, Harvey.

Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Lena was born on June 12, 1922 near Orrin, ND to Joseph and Helen (Hager) Schwan. She grew up and attended rural school near Orrin. Lena married Joe Frieson on June 12, 1940 in Selz, ND. They lived and farmed near Drake, ND. They moved to Harvey in 1962. They purchased a bar in Harvey and operated it as "Joe's Bar." Joe died on October 27, 1972. She married Ludwig Vetter on March 30, 1973 in Minot. They lived in Harvey. Ludwig died on June 19, 2011.

Lena was a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church and the Catholic Daughters of the Americas in Harvey.

Lena is survived by her son, Jeff (Melody) Frieson of Mandan, step sons, Ralph (Rose) Vetter of Springfield, OR, Delanis (Elaine) Vetter of Harvey, Lloyd (Sharon) Vetter of Minot; two step daughters, Betty (Ralph) Martin of Minot, Sharon (Jim) Ell of Minot; 11 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; 13 step grandchildren; numerous step great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Lena was preceded in death by her parents; husbands Joe and Ludwig; sons, LeRoy, Arnie and Larry;  brothers, Clemence, Jack and John; sisters, Ann, Elizabeth and Adeline.
