Lena Vetsch 90 of Harvey died Saturday January 19, 2013 at the St. Aloisius Hospital, Harvey.
Funeral services will be held at the St. Anthony's Catholic Church of Selz on Wednesday January 23, 2012 at 2:00 p.m.
Visitation will be held at the Hertz Funeral Home of Harvey on Tuesday from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. Prayer services will be held at the funeral home at 7 p.m. on Tuesday.
Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Lena was born on February 15, 1922 near Esmond, ND. She was the daughter of Lorenz and Elizabeth (Voeller) Heilman. Lena grew up and attended school near Esmond. As a young woman she worked for area families. She married Steven Vetsch on November 16, 1943 in Esmond. They lived north of Selz where Lena took an active role with the family farm. Steven died on August 14, 2001.
Lena was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church and its altar society. Lena cleaned the St. Anthony Catholic Church for many years. She was also a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters, Christian Mothers, and the Harvey Senior Citizens. Lena was an avid supporter of the Benedictine Mission for more than fifty years. Lena enjoyed gardening, embroidering, listening to music, cooking, baking, canning fruits and vegetables from her garden. Lena also enjoyed having coffee with her friends and family.
Lena is survived by her son, Richard (Cyrilla) Vetsch of Townsend, MT; daughters, Sally (Ed) Volk of Minot, Evie (Lane Quandt) Keller of Montana, Betty Vetsch of Bismarck, Karen Vetsch of Tioga, ND; 5 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; sisters, Ruth Dosch of Selz, Lillian Kraft of Fargo, Viola Heilman of California, Anna Rose West of Pe Ell, WA, Lorraine Klautt, Minnesota, Eleanor Ehni, Fessenden, Margie Teeters, Saint Regis, MT.
Lena was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Steven; brothers, Henry, Lawrence, Edwin; sisters, Isabelle Vetsch, Irene Beedy, Angela Held, Arlene Selzler.
