Lena Fettig, 104, Harvey, ND died on Saturday, September 7, 2019 at the St. Aloisius Nursing Home in Harvey, ND.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, September 11, 2019 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Selz, ND.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. with a Rosary Prayer service at 7 p.m. on Tuesday at Hertz Funeral Home, Harvey, ND.

Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Lena was born on September 30, 1914 to Phillip and Margaret (Voeller) Keller. Lena grew up on a farm near Selz, ND along with 6 siblings. She attended and received her education at a local country school. As a young woman she cared for the children of local families. Lena married Ludwig Fettig Jr. on March 29, 1937 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Selz. Lena was a devoted wife and mother. She worked from sunup to sundown to ensure the farm was running smoothly and her children were taken care of. She milked cows, worked in the field, mended clothes, gardened, canned food, cooked, baked, helped with fall butchering and made sausage. Lena had a sense of humor, was gracious and kind to all. She cooked many meals for relatives, friends and neighbors. Her kitchen and heart were always open to those who came to visit. Lena belonged to the St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Catholic Order of Foresters and Christian Mothers all of Selz.

Lena gave birth to 16 children, Philip (Mary) Fettig of Orange Beach, Alabama, Wendelin Fettig of Underwood, Regina Arndt of West Bend, WI, Margaret (Jerry) Keller of Crosby, ND, Ludwig "Louie" (Julie) Fettig III, of Worland, WY, Theresa Hatten of Sartell, MN, Leona Reihe of Forest Lake, MN, Maggie (Larry) Svoboda of Harvey, Othmar "Pete" (Terri) Fettig of Maple Grove, MN, Agnes (Fred) Mack of Plymouth, MN, Pius (Tammie) Fettig of Surrey, ND, George (Ann) Fettig of Maple Lake, MN, Rose Bringgold of Brooklyn Park, MN. She opened her heart and home to 3 grandchildren for 5 years. Lena has 43 grandchildren, 71 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren.

Lena was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ludwig on November 28, 1985; 3 infants; grandsons, Mark Fettig, Kevin Svoboda, Brian Hatten, son-in-law, Warren Arndt; sisters, Katie Schneider, Elizabeth Heisler and Rose Voeller; brothers, Pius Keller, Cornelius Keller and Joe P. Keller.
