Lawrence Haluska, 85, Anamoose, ND died Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at Trinity Hospital in Minot, ND. Funeral services will be held at the Hertz Funeral Home of Harvey on Monday June 5, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service time. Burial will be in the Chaseley City Cemetery, Chaseley, North Dakota.
Lawrence was born on May 12, 1932 near Chaseley, ND. He was the son of Anton and Martha (Drawha) Haluska. Lawrence grew up and attended school in Chaseley and later in Bowdon where he graduated in 1950. Lawrence entered the Army on April 9, 1958 and was honorably discharged on October 23, 1959. He attended Jamestown College and received his bachelor's degree in science. Lawrence continued his education at the University of Alaska in 1961 and then at UCLA from 1962 through 1965. Lawrence taught math and science in North Dakota and California, where he later began his career in the aerospace industry. He retired from Boeing in the late 1980's and moved from Seattle, WA to Anamoose, ND. Lawrence was an engineer in the early days of the aerospace industry. His employers were involved with projects ranging from concept mass transit trains, to the space shuttle, to the MX missile program. After retirement, he loved recording his ideas of new concepts and inventions. His other hobbies included snow skiing and fly fishing.
Lawrence is survived by one sister, Alvina Bakula of North Hills, CA; numerous nieces and nephews. Lawrence was preceded in death by his brothers, Ed, Fred, Levi, Roy; sisters, Edna Hattel, Evelina Boese, Darlene Flick.
