LaVerne Fiesel, 82, Martin, ND died Tuesday, March 29, 2011 at the St. Aloisius Medical Center, Harvey, ND.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday April 1, 2011 at Martin Baptist Church, Martin, ND.

Visitation will be at the Hertz Funeral Home, Harvey on Thursday from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Burial will be in the Martin Baptist Cemetery, Martin, ND.

LaVerne Delores Fiesel was born on March 21, 1929 on the family farm south of Martin, ND. She was the daughter of Martin and Hulda (Schieman) Fiesel. She grew up on the family farm and graduated from the Martin High School in 1948. She attended Minot State University and returned to Martin where she taught in rural schools for several years. She did seamstress work out of her Martin home for many years. LaVerne was also the custodian at the Martin Baptist Church. She served there until her recent illness resulted in her retirement.

LaVerne was a lifetime member of the Martin Baptist Church. She served as church organist and pianist for many years. She taught Sunday school classes and assisted with the youth prayer band. Her hobbies included embroidering, baking and gardening. She loved children and would often babysit her nieces and nephews.

LaVerne is survived by two sisters, Elma (Alvin) Kleinsasser of Martin, Lois Rott of Anamoose; 12 nieces and nephews; 28 great- nieces and nephews; 13 great-great-nieces and nephews and sister-in-law, Marilyn Fiesel of Harvey.

LaVerne was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Reinhold, Walter, Bennie and Emil; sisters, Martha Weinholz, Minnie Karges, Emma Fuhrman, Viola Fiesel and Ellen Fiesel.
