Larry Fred Wittman was born on May 7, 1945 in Bismarck, ND. He was the son of Fred and Eleanor (Dockter) Wittman. He grew up on the family farm north of Pickardville. He graduated from the McClusky High School. Larry attended Bismarck State College for two years and transferred to Dickinson State University and received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business Administration. He returned to the family farm and joined his father in the farming and ranching operation. He eventually took over the family farm and also offered accounting, estate planning and tax preparation services. Larry married Beverly Kleinsasser on May 28, 1988 in Bismarck. She passed away on June 6, 2003.

Larry lived life to its fullest. Larry was an optimist and saw good in all of God's creations. He could even work with cattle and not become upset. He loved the outdoors and the opportunities they provided. Living on the farm afforded him the opportunity to hone skills. He enjoyed his many hobbies with friends and relatives. He was an exceptional marksman. In recent years he had to learn to shoot left handed proficiently after developing eye problems. He competed in statewide and national trapshooting events and literally filled his freezer with the turkey and ham first place prizes and could fill a trophy case with trophies and a wall with plaques received. He was inducted into the North Dakota Trapshooter Hall of Fame. Last year he was recognized for his years of trapping and furbearing skills by being inducted into the ND Furbearers Hall of Fame in Belfield. He even wrote a book on snaring and developed different types of snares. He also loved to fish and story has it he once "On his way to Bismarck he just had to stop at New John's Lake where he hooked a huge muskie which required him to get wet and muddy while wearing his dress cloths and new cowboy boots."

Larry was a member of the McClusky Baptist Church, Turtle Lake Wildlife Club and Capital City Gun Club.

Larry is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Shirley and Frank Jacob of Bismarck; and special friend, Lorretta Rebson of Miles City, MT. Larry was preceded in death by his parents.
