God welcomed home Larry Grossman, 75, Harvey, ND on Saturday, July 29,2023 in Harvey. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, August 3 at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Harvey. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation begins at 4 p.m. Wednesday at St. Cecilia Catholic Church followed by a Rosary at 6:30 p.m. and Prayer Service at 7 p.m at the church in Harvey.
Larry was born on July 8, 1948, in Harvey, ND. He was the son of Ed and Mary (Vetter) Grossman. He grew up in Anamoose, graduated from Anamoose High School in 1967 where he excelled in football and basketball. On May 11, 1968, Larry married his soulmate and forever sweetheart, Kathy Eckart in Anamoose. They lived in Harvey where they raised their three children, Jason, Shauna, and Jered. Larry's love for helping people, and his kind and honest demeanor lead him on the path to a career in sales, including homes, farm equipment, insurance and in 1996, he found his "second home" at Ripplinger Motors now Drive Chevrolet in Harvey.
Larry was an active member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church where he sang and played guitar in the choir. He was a Eucharistic minister and past Grand Knight and current member of the 4th Degree Knights of Columbus Council in Harvey.
He was a Cub Master and assistant Scout Master for 20 years. Larry was passionate about riding and caring for his horses. He was a charter member of the Sheyenne River Saddle Club. He rode in the Turtle Mountain Sobriety/Unity rides on several occasions. Larry had a great love for cars. His most prized was the Chrysler Sebring convertible his wife bought him on their 50th wedding anniversary.
Music was also a huge part of Larry's life. He was a talented singer and guitar player and loved to share his talent with others in several bands, churches, and his family.
Most of all, Larry's greatest joy was his family. His love for his wife was obvious to everyone. He beamed with pride when talking about his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchild. Their activities and sporting events were so important to him.
Larry will be greatly missed by Kathy, his wife of 55 years; children, Jason (Danica) Grossman of Harvey, Shauna (Paul) Bitz of Napoleon, Fr. Jered Grossman of Velva; 10 grandchildren, Dylan (Mariah) Bitz, Hannah (J.J.) Kauffman, Emily (Dan) Folden, Samual (Alesha) Bitz, Abigail Bitz, Isabella Bitz, Liliana Bitz, Tanner Grossman, Tate Grossman and Tenley Grossman; one great-grandchild, Knox Edward Folden and one on the way; sisters, Judy Muscha of Grand Forks and Jane (Robert) Hager of Harvey. Larry was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law Art Muscha.
Larry was diagnosed with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis in 2019 and was given 2-5 years to live. He used this time to live life to the fullest and to the best of his ability. Well done good and faithful servant…. May his soul and all the souls of the faithful departed through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
