Lacey Ann Schnase-Counter, 45, left her earthly home and went on to meet her Savior on September 10, 2024. Her celebration of life will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 17 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Drake.
Lacey was born on August 7, 1979 in Minot, ND to Randall and Naomi (Bromley) Schnase. Lacey graduated from Drake High School in 1997 and went on to Wahpeton college. Her adventurous career path took her to Las Vegas as a massage therapist for a few years. Lacey then indulged in her love of travel as a flight attendant until she moved to Idaho where she worked for Glambia Co. While there, she was blessed with her three children: Wayne, Jayda, and Ellaynie. In 2017, Lacey relocated back to North Dakota where she resided in Park River and, more recently, Grafton.
Lacey was united in marriage to Kevin Counter on July 6, 2024, and just days after their wedding, she received the unfortunate diagnosis of bile duct/gallbladder cancer. For two short months, Lacey fought this disease fiercely. Amidst her battle, in true Lacey fashion, she took the time to educate her family on taking preventive precautions, always caring for others before herself.
Lacey's walk with the Lord was evidenced in the gentle, unconditional way she loved hard and forgave easily. She could bring smiles and joy to anyone with that unmatched sense of humor. Though her journey here on earth seemed to provide more hills than valleys, her faith remained unmoved. Her prized possessions were her precious children whom she undoubtedly loved fiercely, sharing a deep, unique bond with each one. Lacey taught us many, many lessons, but most of all, how to live and enjoy a simple life. Some of her favorite quotes were "always land on your feet" and "don't worry about it". But her most recent favorite sums up her next chapter and provides us the promise from our Heavenly Father: "Here we go!" Inside her journal she had written out Psalm 71:5, "Lord, you ALONE are my HOPE."
Lacey is survived by her husband Kevin Counter of Grafton, son Wayne Schnase of Minot; daughters, Jayda Schnase and Ellaynie Schnase of Grafton; parents, Randall and Naomi of Anamoose; sisters, Daphne (Bert) Steier of Gilbert, AZ, Ginger Volk of Beulah, ND, Tanna (Justin) Torkelson of Lorain, OH; aunts, uncles; numerous nieces and nephews. Arrangements with Hertz Funeral Home, Harvey, ND.
