Kerry " Helmster " Helm, 52, of McClusky passed away unexpectedly Saturday October 22, 2016 at his home.
Celebration of his life will be held at the St. John's Lutheran Church of McClusky on Thursday October 27, 2016 at 10:30 a.m.
Visitation will be held Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.at the church with a Prayer Service being held at 7 p.m. Wednesday also at the church.
Kerry was born on July 7, 1964 in Bismarck. He was the son of Arlington and Phyllis (Schell) Helm. Kerry grew up and attended school until the 5th grade in Westminster, CA. The family then moved to McClusky where he graduated from McClusky High School in 1982. Kerry attended college in Wahpeton, ND where he studied heating and cooling. Over the next several years, Kerry used his education while working at Bismarck Heating and Cooling, Turtle Lake Community Hospital, and Ramkota Hotel. Most of his adult life he lived in McClusky where he enjoyed working at Helm's Tavern and working with his Dad raising sheep. He also drove bus for the McClusky School District.
Kerry married Cheryl Reile on September 11, 2000 in McClusky. They lived northeast of McClusky where he raised sheep, chickens, and turkeys.
Kerry had the most fun times hunting, fishing with his buddies, playing softball, and spending time with his grandchildren. He will be cheering on his Chicago Cubs from the best seat in the stadium this year.
Kerry is survived by his wife, Cheryl of McClusky; parents, Arlington and Phyllis Helm of McClusky; step-daughters, Chrissy (Len) Brabandt of Great Falls, Montana, Carrie(Brian) Foley of McClusky, Amanda Werner of McClusky; three grandchildren Tyson, Riley, Micah; brother, Keith (Jody) Helm of Fessenden; sister, Kathleen (Merlin) Skaley of Mercer, ND. Two nieces Trisha ( Jeremiah) Troutman of MN, Kayla (Kyle) Welscher, MN and nephews Curtis Skaley, ND, and Jermey (Kayla) Skaley, ND
