Kenneth Weltz 69 of Martin died Monday February 14, 2011 at the St. Aloisius Hospital, Harvey.

Funeral services will be held at the Mennonite Brethren Church, Harvey on Saturday, February 19, at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be in the Sunnyside Cemetery, Harvey, ND.

Kenneth was born on February 7, 1942 in Harvey, North Dakota. He was the son of Albert and Mary (Hildenbrand) Weltz. Kenneth grew up and attended school south of Anamoose and graduated from Anamoose High School in 1961. Kenneth attended Interstate Business School in Fargo from 1963 through 1964. He worked for the John Iverson Company in Minot for a year. Kenneth married Lois Young on July 24, 1965 in Wheaton, MN. They moved to Harvey, ND in September 1965 and he worked for Ralph's Super Value as a meat cutter. In 1967 they moved to Martin and Ken worked for Janavaras Grocery in Drake for some time. Kenneth then started to work as carpenter. He helped build many new homes in the area. After retiring he enjoyed refurnishing old furniture, gardening, working in the yard, attending auction sales, cooking, and taking part in the Martin community events. In 1988 Ken and Lois graduated from square dancing school and enjoyed attending many state and international conventions as well as being state directors.

Kenneth is survived by his wife, Lois Weltz of Martin; brother, Dennis (Jeanette) Weltz of Anamoose; sisters, Agnes Schmidt of Anamoose, Wyonne (Marvin) Riskevich of Baldwin, ND, Donna Hauser of Sawyer, ND; sister-in-laws, Jeannette Weltz of Harvey and Linda Weltz of Minot; several nieces and nephews survive. Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Clifton Weltz, Gerald Weltz, Stanley Weltz; brother-in-law, Elmer Schmidt, Darell Hauser; sister-in-law, Theresa Weltz.
