Kathleen (Kap) Rae Weinmann, 66 years old, died September 19, 2021 at St. Aloisius Hospital in Harvey, ND. Kathleen died of cancer after a valiant and courageous four month battle, with her husband and children by her side.
Kathleen was born on October 24, 1954 in Jamestown, ND to Rex and Barbara Brisben. She grew up in Jamestown with her two older brothers Keith and Michael, her twin sister Karen, and younger brother Todd. Kathleen, known by most as Kap, got her nickname from her two older brothers, who couldn't pronounce her name when they were younger. Kathleen got shortened to Kappy, and eventually just Kap, which stuck for the remainder of her life.
After graduating high school from Jamestown High, Kap went on to pursue her Elementary Education degree at Valley City State University. Upon completion of that degree, Kap accepted her first teaching contract in Harvey, ND (1976) where she continued to teach the remainder of her career. Kap loved teaching so much, that she taught for 41 years, which was still not long enough in her eyes. Her two daughters and granddaughter followed in her footsteps. After being in Harvey for a year Kap met her soulmate, Dennis Weinmann, and they were married on May 5, 1978. They were happily married for 43 years. Kap and Dennis have three children: Paula Mae, Pamela Kay, and Steven Michael.
Throughout the years Kap got into coaching along with her teaching career. She coached a variety of sports: basketball, dance team, cheerleading, golf and volleyball. Kap continued coaching even after she retired from teaching, her love for working with children brought her so much joy.
Some of Kap's favorite passions in life included spending time with her husband and children, spoiling her grandchildren, golfing, and going to the movies with her beloved friends. She also enjoyed going on adventures such as shopping, trips or get togethers. Kap loved life and brought many smiles to so many people. Her work ethic, character, and positivity was contagious. She was an inspiration to all and will be greatly missed.
Kap is survived by her husband Dennis; her children: Paula of Phoenix, AZ; Pam of Harvey, ND; Steven (Brianna) of Hurdsfield, ND; her eight grandchildren: Cassie, Phoebe, Tucker, Addisyn, Olivia, Gavin, Grayson and Grady; her siblings: Keith (Margo) of Colorado, Michael (Barbara) Brisben of Bismarck, ND, twin sister Karen (Mark) Bivens of Jamestown, ND; and Todd (Stacy) Brisben of Colorado; and numerous nephews and nieces. Kap is preceded in death by her parents Rex and Barbara Brisben.
