Kari Deck, 73 of rural Harvey, ND died Sunday, August 12, 2018 at the New Perspective Senior Living in West Fargo, ND.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, August 16, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Selz, ND.

Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Hertz Funeral Home, Harvey, ND.

Kari was born on September 10, 1944 at Pierre, SD.  She was the daughter of Ernest and Dee (Nordby) Holst .  The family lived in several towns in Wyoming.  Kari graduated from high school in Torrington, WY and attended college briefly. She was once married to Gerald Beierle and they had two sons, Dean and Doug.  They lived in Minot.  She graduated from Minot State University.  Kari continued living in Minot where she was librarian at the Memorial Elementary School at the Minot Air Force Base and at Jim Hill Junior High.  She married Alfred Deck on July 6, 1996 in Minot and she gained three more sons.  They lived northwest of Selz, ND.  She retired from teaching in 2006.

Kari's hobbies included crocheting, reading, gardening, painting, participating in community theatre and supporting the arts.  She enjoyed many trips on the motorcycle with Alfred.

Kari is survived by her husband Alfred; two sons, Dean Beierle of Minot and Doug (Terry) Beierle of West Fargo; step sons, Scott Deck of Great Falls, MT and Terry Deck of Paducah, Kentucky; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; sister, Terry Madison of Monument, CO.  Kari was preceded in death by her parents and a stepson, Sean Deck.
