Johnny Martin 88 of Harvey died Friday July 3, 2015 at the St. Aloisius Hospital of Harvey. Funeral services will be held at the First Lutheran Church of Harvey on Tuesday July 7, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. Visitation will be held at the Hertz Funeral Home of Harvey on Monday from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.

Johnny Fred Martin was born on February 15, 1927 on the family farm in Harvey, ND. He was the son of Daniel and Rose (Suckert) Martin. Johnny grew up and worked with his father on the farm. He attended school at the Eigenheim country school near Manfred, ND. He married Deloris Erickson on July 23, 1950 in Harvey and they continued to live on the family farm. After Johnny sold the farmland in 1977, he continued to raise cattle and horses and worked for several area farmers before retiring.

Johnny was a member of the Wells Eagles Aerie #3080 in Harvey, ND, and he and Deloris were members of Trinity Bethany Lutheran Church in Harvey. Johnny lived for his wife, children, and grandchildren. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing cards with friends and family. Johnny had an affinity for animals, and he could frequently be found in the yard closely followed by a trail of geese, horses, cats, dogs, and his energetic children.

Johnny is survived by wife, Deloris of Harvey; children, Ronald (Marilyn) Martin, Phoenix, AZ, Darryl (Marcia) Martin, West Fargo, ND, Jeffrey Martin, Harvey, ND, and Laurie (Neil) Faber, Stanley, ND; grandchildren, Krista (Peter) Zagorda, Adana, Turkey, Jonathan (Kaitlyn Brown) Martin, Phoenix, AZ, Tessa Martin, West Fargo, ND, Teri (Brett) Winkelman, Fargo, ND, Eryn Faber, Minot, ND, Ryan Faber, Stanley, ND; three great grandchildren; sister, Irene Mehrer, Harvey, ND; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Johnny was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Marvin, Roland, Alvin, Leland, Sam, and Robert; sisters, Frieda Lakin and Esther Runyon.
