John Henry Roller was born August 18, 1949, in Harvey, ND. He passed away peacefully with his family by his side, February 15, 2025, in Rochester, MN. John spent his early years working for farmers until graduating from Bowdon High School in 1968. In the fall of 1968, John enrolled at NDSCS for welding and diesel mechanics. After completing his education, the United Sates Army drafted him. Returning home from Fort Carsen, CO, John welded at Haybuster, Clairmont, and on the draglines at coal mines in Beulah. In the fall of 1973, after marrying the love of his life, Lynda Hamann, the couple moved back home to begin farming.

John and Lynda helped Lynda's parents (Marvin & Elenora Hamann) and John's stepfather (Mike Fischer) in their farming operations as well as starting his own family legacy. John farmed for 50 years. His love for the land and hard work was known by many. You could never take the farmer out of him. Through the years, John was a wonderful father to his three daughters: Alicia, Jessica, and Lyndsey. Whether it was helping with a 4-H animal or projects, music, sports, or after school activities, John was always there for his family. He taught us so many valuable life lessons through his unconditional love and support. John was a long-time member of the James River Gun Club and taught Hunter's Safety classes. He enjoyed seeing the younger generation pick up an interest in hunting and fishing. Over the years this interest was shared with his brothers and in-laws, with Lynda and his daughters, and most recently with his grandson. John always enjoyed helping his neighbors and friends with welding and fixing things. He was willing to lend a hand and ALWAYS had time to visit when someone stopped by the shop, Over the years, John shared his love for gardening with many friends and family. No one ever left without something from John and Lynda's garden.

John also had a soft spot and love for animals be they sheep, goats, cows, dogs, and most recently, cats. Dad always made sure they were fed well, kept warm, and well taken care of. After 50 years of farming, John and Lynda started to slow down, but his love for farming and family never waivered. John and Lynda were long time members of the St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Hurdsfield. John was also involved in the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Harvey. John was a wonderful soul who will be sorely missed but fondly remembered by so many. May his legacy live on forever.

John is survived by his wife, Lynda; three daughters, Alicia, Jessica (Benjamin) Lervick and Lyndsey (Josh) Zeien; six grandchildren; and siblings Lucy Southard, Susan (Lynn) Sellie, Betty, (Dennis) Lorenz and Peter (Chris) Roller; countless nieces and nephews and so many friends. John was proceeded in death by his mother Margaret (Prom) Fischer; his father John; his stepfather Mike Fischer; his brother, Tom; his son, Bradley; along with his mother and father in-law, Elenora and Marvin Hamann.

The family of John Roller would like to thank everyone over the years for your love, support, and friendship, John was not just a part of our lives, he was the best part. He will be deeply missed; may he rest in peace.
