Jody Thingvold, 71, of Harvey died Wednesday, July 15, 2026 at St. Aloisius Hospital in Harvey. Funeral services will be held at Faith Lutheran Church of Harvey on Thursday, July 30, 2026 at 10:30 a.m. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service time. Burial will be in the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery in Mandan, ND at a later date.
Jody was born on May 20, 1955 in Harvey. She was the daughter of Helmuth and Jacquelyn (Bailey) Liebelt. Jody grew up on the family farm northwest of Harvey until the 7th grade. She then moved with her family and lived out of state until the middle of her 8th grade school year when they returned to Harvey. She graduated from Harvey High School in 1973. Jody married Mervin Thingvold on January 16, 1976 in Turtle Lake. They lived in Harvey where Mervin worked for the Canadian Pacific Railway and farmed while Jody made a home for their four children. In the 1990s Jody started work at the St. Aloisius Hospital at the switch board before leaving to work for Northern Appraisal and Realty in Harvey. In 2011 Jody suffered a stroke and retired. Jody enjoyed bowling, playing bingo, baking cakes for all occasions, shopping, and spending time with her grandchildren.
Jody is survived by her husband, Mervin; her children, Brad of West Fargo, Brian (Nicole) of Fargo, Jamie (Steven) of Fargo, and Timothy (Julie) of Harvey; her grandchildren, Max, Ty, and Layla Thingvold; Ashley Tapley, Kaitlynn Jasken, and Matthew Deabenderfer; five great-grandchildren; her brother, Tim Liebelt of Harvey; and her sister, Jan (Mark) Demke of Goodrich. Jody was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Jill Liebelt.
