On July 4, 2022, Jessie Joyce Wentz went home to be with the Lord after recent hospitalization and long-time illness. She was 76 and will be missed greatly by the many who know and love her.

Jessie J. was born 1946 in Detroit, Michigan to Jessie Catherine Kiffe and Walter Richard Jackson. She was the eldest of 6 children and moved with her family to the Harvey, ND area in the early 1960's where she graduated Class of 1964 from Harvey High School and met Raymond Albert Wentz who she later married in 1965. Together, they would have 5 children.

Jessie J. was a devoted wife, dedicated mother to her 5 children, grandmother to her 3 grandchildren, and a loving friend and nurturing figure to most anyone that she came in contact with. She had a humble nature and was deeply compassionate towards others, always quick to offer a prayer, send a card, or lend an ear, a hug, or encouraging word. Her faith was important to her; she loved God and in her 30's, was baptized into Harvey's St. Cecilia's Catholic church where she sought ways to serve Him over the years - participating in the church Prayer Chain and Adoration ministries, Alter Society, Choir, and at one point, doing work in the church historian office.

While she was a stay-at-home mom for most of her life, Jessie worked as a nurse's aide in the Harvey Hospital prior to having her children and went back to work in the hospital's laundry department after they left home. She had a great affection for the people that she met and worked with during that time and maintained those relationships long after.

Jessie J. had many interests throughout her life. She was a talented sewer, who was forever patching a garment or sewing on a button, and often made clothes for her children and enjoyed embroidery and teaching it to her daughters in their youth. She was an avid reader who favored mysteries, thrillers, and medical journals. She could often be found in the kitchen, writing out lists and cards, baking, or canning goods raised on the family land. She especially loved and cared for the family pets, most recently Casper and Shadow, their American Eskimo pups. She was concerned with current world events and constantly listened to news programs as she went about her daily business. Most notably, however, she was a deeply sentimental soul who amassed a collection of memories that can be found in her vast archives of magazines, newspaper clippings, church bulletins, recipes, pictures, and every card that she received over the years, which she considered among her greatest treasures.

Jessie J. was preceded in death by her son, Patrick Lowell Wentz, her parents Jessie Catherine Kiffe and Walter Richard Jackson, sister Deirdre Jackson, and brothers Richard Jackson and David Jackson. She is survived by her husband Raymond Albert Wentz of Harvey, ND, son Lee Allen Wentz also of Harvey, ND, twin daughters Rayleen Marie Heritage of Austin, TX, and Kayleen Marie Goodrich of Pahrump, NV, daughter Julie Ann Wentz of Round Rock, TX, grandson Patrick Richter of Pahrump, NV, granddaughters Marlana Mills and Julia Heritage both of Bismarck, ND, sister Gayle File of Albuquerque, NM and brother Samuel Jackson of Colorado Springs, CO.
