Jerry Erickson, 74, Harvey, ND died Thursday, October 1, 2015 in a Grafton Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, October 5, 2015 at First Lutheran Church, Harvey, ND.
Visitation will be Sunday from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Hertz Funeral Home, Harvey, ND.
Burial will be in St. Petri Cemetery, rural Harvey, ND
Jerry was born on December 24, 1940 in Harvey to Sofus and Stella (Hanson) Erickson. He grew up in Harvey and graduated from the Harvey High School in 1959. He entered the North Dakota National Guard in October 1958 and was honorably discharged in October 1962. He also worked as a mechanic at Gayle's Texaco Service Station in Harvey.
Jerry married Betty Mathern on September 1, 1964 in Fessenden. They resided in Harvey.
Jerry was employed by the Soo Line Railroad and later the Canadian Pacific Railroad. He retired in 2001 after serving 33 years as a carman. For many years he worked for Halvorson Construction in Harvey in conjunction with his job on the railroad. Jerry also drove truck for Bret Kiemele of Cavalier, ND during the sugar beet harvest. This would have been Jerry's fourteenth year of harvesting beets.
Jerry enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, playing Bingo and spending time with friends and family, especially the grand kids. He also raised large gardens and shared his produce with family and friends.
Jerry was a member of the First Lutheran Church and Wells Eagles Aerie # 3080 both of Harvey.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Betty of Harvey; sons, Jerry Jr. of Fargo, Kenny (Tonia) of Harvey; Daughters, Lada Burgard (LeRoy Cromwell) of Fargo, Jayme Erickson (Jeremy Feist) of Harvey; six grandchildren, Brittney Erickson of Reno, NV, Samantha, Nicole, McKenzie and Alex Erickson of Harvey, Hannah Ziegler of Harvey; brothers, Floyd "Lefty" Erickson of Harvey, Gordon Erickson of Mentor, MN; sisters, Edna Helland of St. Paul, MN, Mae Ripplinger of Harvey, Marcella Seibel of Harvey, Deloris Martin of Harvey, Florence Rose of Missoula, MT.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Kenneth, Lloyd, Melvin, Morris; sisters, Gladys Heilman and Fay Heisler.
Jerry passed away on October 1, 2015 at the Unity Medical Center in Grafton, ND. Blessed be the memory of Jerry Erickson.
