Jeffrey Alan Martwick was born on September 27, 1960 in La Moure, ND. He was the son of David and Alvina (Pahl) Martwick. The family moved to McClusky in 1965. He attended school there and graduated from the McClusky High School in 1978. He attended the University of North Dakota and North Dakota State University before returning to McClusky in 1980. He worked at and later owned and operated the Highway Café for thirteen years. Customers from miles around enjoyed his prime rib dinners and his hospitality. He then began working with his father at D&J Bulk fuel service where he made fuel deliveries to area farmers and businesses. They sold the business to McClusky Coop Elevator and he became their bulk fuel driver along with other duties. Jeffrey married Rhonda Breiner on February 18, 2017 in Las Vegas, NV. They lived in McClusky. He loved deer hunting, and especially antelope hunting in Wyoming. His love for hunting even went beyond, by attending and setting up at gun shows, with his good friend, Joe Barland. Rhonda, traveled with Jeff across the state and into SD, watching him fulfill his passion. Jeffrey's dream of opening a gun shop became a reality in September 2019 when he opened Orion's Den.
Jeffrey was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church where he was serving as the current council president. He was a current member and served as past chief on the McClusky Fire Protection District and a current EMT and First Responder with the McClusky Ambulance Service. He was a blood donor and helped organize many local blood drives. He was a member of the Lion's, which then became the Locals. Jeffrey was the current president of the McClusky Merchants, a position he held for many years. He served as the master of ceremonies for the Mid-Summer Fest and as Santa Claus at the McClusky Merchants Christmas Appreciation Supper. He was the board vice president at the Northland Health Centers organization in Turtle Lake. He was a McClusky School bus driver and was known for making cupcakes for the kids. A friend called him "Mr. McClusky" because of his efforts to create events, making things happen in McClusky and making the town a fun place.
Jeffrey is survived by his wife Rhonda of McClusky; step children, Joseph (Marissa), Charley (Alysha), James (Lexi); step granddaughter, Khara; parents, David and Alvina Martwick; brother, Neil (Karla) Martwick; sister, Sheila (Troy) Stein all of McClusky; nephew and nieces, Mandy, Chris, Victoria, Abigail and Adrienne; several great nieces and great nephews.
