Obituary

Jeanette E. Mears, 70, died Friday, July 9, 2010 at a Fargo Hospital.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, July 13, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Harvey. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Prayer services will be at 7 p.m. Monday at Hertz Funeral Home, Harvey with visitation there also on Monday from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Jeanette was born July 7, 1940 at Bottineau, ND. She was the daughter of Herbert and Aleda (Kuhn) Mahler. She grew up on a farm in the Turtle Mountains. The family moved into Bottineau where Jeanette was a waitress at a local restaurant. She graduated from Bottineau High School in 1958. Jeanette and Harland E. Mears were united in marriage on June 6, 1959 in Bottineau. They lived in Rugby, Michigan, Devils Lake and in 1978 they moved to Harvey. Jeanette provided child day care services for several years while living in Devils Lake and in Harvey.

Jeanette was a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Catholic Daughters, Holy Family Society and Wells Eagles Auxiliary, all of Harvey.

She enjoyed time spent with her children and grandchildren. She loved cross stitching and quilted blankets for each of her grandchildren.

Jeanette faced a number of health issues and one of her life goals was to reach age 70. Jeanette celebrated her 70th birthday this past Wednesday, July 7. She experienced a great day and a great last week having received numerous cards and birthday greetings.

Jeanette is survived by her husband, Harland of Harvey; daughters, Marilyn (Mark) Demory of Harvey; Sandra (Steve) Anderson of Moorhead, MN; son, Dennis (Valerie) Mears of Milbank, SD; 8 grandchildren, Eric and his wife Sascha Demory of Minot, Kristin Demory and her fiance, Jacob Stoltz of Williston, Jessica Demory of Harvey; Bailey and Brady Anderson of Moorhead; Mackenzie, Nicholas and Andrew Mears of Milbank, SD; mother Aleda Mahler of Harvey; two sisters, Gertrude Walker of Valley City, Laura (Baldwin) Erickson of Maddock; two brothers, Ralph (Bernadette) Mahler of Fargo and Myron (Coral) Mahler of Oberon.

Jeanette was preceded in death by two infant sons; her father, Herbert and brother, Lawrence Mahler.
