Erma Jean Marzolf, 95 of Harvey died Thursday, September 3, 2026 at the St. Aloisius Nursing Home of Harvey. Funeral services will be held at the Martin Baptist Church of Martin on Tuesday, September 8, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. Visitation will be held at the Hertz Funeral Home of Harvey on Monday, September 7, 2026 from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. Burial will be in the Sunnyside Cemetery of Harvey.
Erma Jean was born on September 25, 1930, in Harvey, ND to Harry and Alma (Syverson) Eckart. Jean grew up on the family farm north of Martin, ND. She attended country school near there. She helped out on the farm and worked one summer at Trinity Hospital in Minot. She returned to the family farm in the fall of 1949. Jean married Paul Marzolf on November 20, 1949, in Harvey. They farmed south of Martin and spent three winters in Lodi, CA. They returned to North Dakota and moved to Harvey in 1967. She went to work at the St. Aloisius Hospital and was a Physical Therapy aid for 35 years. Jean retired in 2002. She loved to bake, make goodies, read, garden, and car racing, and was an avid NDSU Bison fan.
Jean is survived by two sons, Randy of Bismarck and Ron of Harvey who lived with and cared for her after Paul passed away. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Jackie Eckart of Jamestown, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Jean was a member of the Martin Baptist Church.
Jean was preceded in death by her husband Paul on September 4, 2010; parents; brothers, Orville and Gerald (Duke) Eckart; sister Geraldine Salisbury and brother-in-law, Fred Salisbury; sisters-in-law Eloris (Reimche) Eckart and Anna Jean Marzolf
