A celebration of life for Jane Ellen Faul, Harvey ND, will take place at 2 pm Saturday, Jan 23, 2021 at the Cornerstone Community Church, Harvey ND with Pastor Jeff Blomqust officiating.
She was born October 11, 1943 in Harvey, ND to Vernon & Elizabeth (Fuhrman) Sommer and was their only child. She went home peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, January 18, 2021 at the age of 77 at the Woodward OK hospital surrounded by her family.
Jane attended elementary school in Manfred, ND and attended one year of high school at Harvey, ND. She loved the outdoors and had many puppies as playmates. She worked on her parents' farm milking cows, feeding chickens and pigs and raising big gardens. She worked as a babysitter and farm hand for many neighbors.
On January 31, 1964 at the age of 20 she married the love of her life, Ronald D. Faul and they were blessed with 57 years of love and life together. In the early years of their marriage they moved almost yearly as Ron worked various jobs and Jane made each house a home for her growing family. A daughter, Brenda was born in 1964, they were blessed with a second daughter, DeeAnn in 1967 and their family was completed in 1969 with a son, Donald.
Jane was homemaker and a hard worker and taught her children the value of a job well done. From the fruit of her labor came a beautiful yard and endless flower gardens from which she shared flower arrangements in church and with friends. She had bountiful gardens and she shared the extra fruits and vegetables with family and friends. We especially appreciated her raspberries. To feed her growing family she raised huge flocks of chickens each year and did a lot of canning, freezing and baking. She was an excellent cook and blessed us with kuchen and knefla. She was very creative and made many afghans and doilies, but quilting became her passion, polyester her fabric of choice and flower garden became her pattern.
Jane came to faith in her childhood and was baptized in the Mennonite Brethren Church after her marriage to Ron. She loved her church family and used her talents to serve the Lord through decorating, painting and cooking in church. She also used her skills in finishing miles of woodwork and painting countless square feet of barns and houses inside and out. Jane was not a leader but followed Jesus's example of being a faithful servant. Her greatest joy in service came through making quilts for MCC and although she struggled with health issues she still took bags full of quilt tops to the church before Christmas this year.
She is survived by her husband, Ronald of Hurdsfield and her children Brenda & Scott Neufeld, Fairview, OK, DeeAnn & Jim Wichert, Enid, OK and Don & Jennifer Faul, Hurdsfield, ND. The joy of her life was her six amazing grandchildren, Carissa (Neufeld) & Kyle Boehs, Fairview, OK, Caleb & Maggie Neufeld, Fairview, OK, Erica (Wichert) & Richard Mooers, Mustang, OK, Neil Wichert, Enid, OK, Adam Faul, Grand Forks, ND, and Jessica (Faul) & Nick Roethel, Hinesville GA and although they were cut far too short, she treasured every moment with her two great grandchildren Zoey Mooers, Mustang, OK age 1 ½ and Dawson Boehs, Fairview OK age 4 months.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Memorials can be made to Cornerstone Community Church designated to the WMS for quilting missions.
