James Lageson 74, of Harvey died Saturday, October 7, 2017 at the St. Aloisius Hospital, Harvey, ND.

Funeral services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 12 at First Lutheran Church, Harvey.

Visitation: 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 11 at Hertz Funeral Home, Harvey, ND.

Burial will be in Sunnyside Cemetery, Harvey, ND.

James Ernest Lageson was born on July 29, 1943 at Harvey, ND.  He was the son of Ernest and Dorothy (Kucera) Lageson.  The family lived on a farm near Manfred.  The family moved to a farm northwest of Harvey in 1955.  James attended rural schools in both areas.  He began farming with his father.  He was employed by the Soo Line Railroad and Zimmerman Construction for several years.  James served in the North Dakota National Guard for nearly eight years and was a heavy equipment operator. James retired several years ago.

James married Dianne Keller on August 28, 1981 in Fessenden. They lived in the Peaceful Valley area northeast of Harvey.  They moved into Harvey in 2014.  Dianne died on September 28, 2017.

James was passionate about farming and at one time had up to 200 cows plus their calves. He had a hobby farm up until a few years ago.  He enjoyed riding horse with his favorite one named "Champ." He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing card games especially pinochle and Hand and Foot.

James was a member of the First Lutheran Church.

James is survived by his son, Jim (Lisa) Lageson of Mandan; daughter, Lesa (John) Morrison of Harvey; two grandchildren, William and Hailee Morrison; sisters, Carol (Tim) Lemar of Minot, Cathy (Leon) Seefeld of Harvey.  He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Dianne; brother, William Lageson.
