Jacquelyn Liebelt, 91, Harvey, ND passed away on Tuesday, December 6, 2022 at the St. Aloisius Nursing Home, Harvey. Funeral services will be held at the Faith Lutheran Church of Harvey on Friday, December 9, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 8, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m at the Hertz Funeral Home in Harvey. Burial will be in Sunnyside Cemetery, Harvey.
Jacquelyn was born on February 14, 1931 in Harvey. She was the daughter of Clifford and Violet (Butler) Bailey. Jackie grew up in Harvey. While she was in high school the family moved to California for a year before returning to Harvey. Jackie graduated from Harvey High School in 1949.
Jackie worked as a clerk at J.C. Penney in Harvey. She married Helmuth Liebelt on June 16, 1951 in Ozark, Alabama. They lived in Harvey for several years before moving to the family farm northwest of Harvey. They also lived in Evanston and Saratoga, Wyoming, Leadville, CO, and Moab, Utah. They returned to Harvey, and she resumed working at J.C. Penney and later Berg's 5&10 where she arranged flowers for Hazel Berg. Jackie and Jeanie Miller opened J&J Floral in Harvey and she sold her share to Jeanie in 1988. She also worked at Schroeder Furniture and for Harvey Sand and Gravel. Helmuth died on March 16, 2008.
Her hobbies were bingo, gardening, camping, and home decorating. She cherished her time spent with family and friends. Jackie was a member of the United Methodist Church of Harvey, VFW and American Legion Auxiliaries both of Harvey.
Jackie is survived by her children, Jill Liebelt of Harvey, Tim Liebelt of Harvey, Jody (Mervin) Thingvold of Harvey, Jan (Mark) Demke of Goodrich; 7 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; sister, Sandy Booher of Pahrump, Nevada. Jackie was preceded in death by her parents, husband and brother, Renfrew Bailey who died in the Korean War.
