Jack Kost, 88, of Martin, ND passed away on Wednesday, April 6, 2022 at Trinity Hospital in Minot, North Dakota with family at his side.

Jack was born on October 24, 1933 to Emmanuel and Tillie (Roessler) Kost.  He was raised on a farm and knew hard work at a very early age.  He and Sharon Lesmeister married on September 23, 1959, and together raised three children; Jay, Sonja and Shawn.

Jack had a passion for business, supporting his family with farming, hauling cattle and eventually buying and selling semi-trucks and other equipment.  He loved numbers.  His family and his church were his top priorities and he worked tirelessly to hold them both together.

Jack had a sense of urgency about everything that he did, and everyone that knew him knew what to expect because he had a way of "laying it on the line".  Hard core as he was, Jack was always right there for anybody that needed assistance and really wasn't a stranger to anyone he met.

His passing will be deeply mourned by his wife Sharon of Martin, ND, his daughter Sonja (Otis) McGuire  of Vail, AZ, his sons Jay (Karen) of Bismarck, ND and Shawn (Cyndi) of Tucson, AZ, grandchildren, Amelia Kost, Abby (Sean)Hatlen, Olivia Kost and Logan Kost, his sister-in-law Carol Kost of Mayville, ND and many nieces and nephews.

Jack is welcomed in heaven by his parents Emmanuel and Tillie; brothers, Dale (Delores), LeJune (Aleta and Delma), Wayne (Phillis), Milo "Bud" (Joyce), Dennis (Carol); sisters, Marceda "Cec" (Jim) Heitmann and Eunice who died as a toddler.

May Jack rest in peace knowing he is deeply loved.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 9 at the United Methodist Church in Martin, ND.  Burial will follow in the Martin Baptist Cemetery.

Visitation is Friday, April 8 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Hertz Funeral Home, Harvey, ND .
