Ione was born on April 16, 1926 on her grandparent's farm near Benedict, ND to Rose Keller. She was raised by her grandmother Carrie (Bitz) Keller until her death on January 20, 1943. Ione then lived with her mother and step-father Rose and Richard Sipes in Minot. Ione attended school in Max, ND graduating from the eighth grade. While visiting her mother's cousin Mrs. Ruth Lautt, she met her future husband Harold Frueh. Harold would travel from Martin to Minot with a friend Richard Wangen to visit Ione. After a year of courting, Harold proposed to Ione and they were married on July 30, 1944 on his parents, Rudolph and Caroline Frueh farm.

Harold entered the service in October of 1944 and Ione lived in Minot with her mother and step-father. When Harold was discharged from the service in October of 1946, they purchased the Fred Feickert farm south of Martin. They would live there over 50 years before moving to Harvey in the fall of 1998. Harold died on September 22, 2006.

Ione was an avid reader. She read and studied her bible daily. She loved to garden, cook, and bake. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Harvey.

Ione is survived by two sons, Garret (Patricia) Frueh and Rick (Ida) Frueh all of Martin; daughter, Cheryl Sadowsky of Bakersfield, CA; 9 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren. Ione was preceded in death by her husband, Harold; son-in-law, Daniel Sadowsky.
