Hertha Rath, 95, of Harvey, ND died Wednesday, March 25, 2020 at the St. Aloisius Nursing Home, Harvey.  Private services will be held at the funeral home with a graveside service scheduled later in the spring.   A visitation following CDC recommendations will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, March 27 at the Hertz Funeral Home, Harvey, ND.

Hertha Mathilda Rath, formerly of Anamoose, entered into the Lord's Kingdom on March 25, 2020 at St Aloisius Nursing Home in Harvey at the age of 95.
Hertha was born on March 11, 1925 on the family farmstead south of Anamoose to Karl and Adeline (Reister) Rath. She grew up and attended country school and graduated from the 8th grade.
She married Edgar J. Rath on November 19,1948 in Miles City, Montana. They lived and farmed south of Anamoose until October 1967 when they moved into Anamoose. They were blessed with 1 son, Terry and 2 daughters, Marlys & Lynette. They were happily married for 57 years.
Hertha moved to Hazen in October 2006, after Edgar's passing in May 2006. She moved to the St. Aloisius Nursing Home in Harvey in July 2016, where she resided until her death.
Hertha baked & decorated hundreds of cakes for many weddings, anniversaries, birthdays, baptisms & graduations. Her first being in the early 1970's and continued until the mid 1990's. Her cakes included all 3 of her children's wedding cakes.
She loved gardening & had numerous flower beds. Her other hobbies included crocheting, embroidering, crafts, puzzles & coloring. Hertha loved music and played piano & organ in church for many years. She also played guitar and accordion.. She loved playing piano, especially when her family was home to sing. She continued to play after she entered the nursing home & loved her keyboard.
Hertha is survived by her son, Terry (Sandy) Rath, Lonetree, CO, daughters, Marlys (Leon) Zuther, Hazen, ND and Lynette (Brian) Bender, Martin, ND. Five grandchildren, Corey (Bryn) Rath, Highlands Ranch, CO, Aaron (Lisa) Zuther, Fargo, ND, Kimberly Zuther (Jesse Folkets), Fargo, ND, Brandon Zuther (Shannon Martin), Bismarck, ND and Trenton Zuther, Hazen, ND. Four great-grandchildren, Ethan and Cade Rath, Highlands Ranch, CO, Julia and Benjamin Zuther, Fargo, ND. Brother, Leo (Nina) Rath, Portland, OR, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Edgar; brothers, Calvin and Rueben, Lorraine (Berg) Ramsey (a cousin who was raised as a sister), an infant son and son-in-law, Gaylen Marzolf.
