Herbert Grosz 83, McClusky died Tuesday November 25, 2014 at the Community Memorial Hospital, Turtle Lake, ND.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, December 3 at Grace Lutheran Church in McClusky.
Visitation will be held Tuesday from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Hertz Funeral Home of McClusky.
Burial will be in the McClusky City Cemetery.
Herbert was born on October 20, 1931 on a farm northwest of McClusky. He was the son of Jacob and Katie (Bentz) Grosz. He attended the Harris Township rural school.
Herb married Helen Wanner on October 26, 1952 in McClusky. They lived on a farm northeast of McClusky. Herb started managing Herb's Mobil Station in McClusky in the spring of 1959. He purchased the Mobil Bulk business from Reuben Herr in 1965. He operated it as Grosz Oil until he retired in 1992.
Herb enjoyed playing and listening to old time music with family. He could entertain a crowd with his endless jokes and telling of family stories. Herb enjoyed bowling and was in numerous leagues. He played softball in his younger years. Herb enjoyed baseball and was an avid New York Yankees fan.
Herb was a member of the McClusky Lions Club, McClusky Merchants, McClusky City Fire Department and served on the Sheridan Memorial Home Board and Parkview Housing Board.
Herb will be greatly missed by those who shared in his life including his wife, Helen of McClusky; daughter and son-in-law, Vonnie and Steve Erdmann of Denhoff; granddaughter, Melissa and husband Jeremy Ward of Thornton, CO; grandson Dustin and wife Caroline Erdmann of Monett, Missouri; two great-grandchildren, Axel and Corabelle Erdmann; brother, Alfred and wife Sharon of Minot; sister, Ardella and husband Don McCloud of Bismarck; brother-in-law, Melvin Jesz of Bismarck; numerous nieces and nephews.
Herb was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Violet Jesz, Mary and Martin Hoffer; nephew, Jeff Zeeb.
