Helen Grace Pister, 87, Harvey, ND died Wednesday, February 22, 2012 at the St. Aloisius Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 25 at the Faith Lutheran Church which meets at the Harvey Seventh-day Adventist Church in Harvey.

Visitation will be Friday from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Hertz Funeral Home, Harvey, ND.

Helen was born on June 7, 1924 at Robinson, ND. She was the daughter of Henry and Reesa (Schwamb) Hirchert. She grew up on the family farm and attended rural school in the Robinson area. Helen married Theodore Henry Pister on October 20, 1947 at McClusky, ND. They lived on farms in the Lincoln Valley and Kief areas. In 1955 they moved to Butte and to Harvey in 1963. Helen worked several jobs before becoming a CNA at the St. Aloisius Nursing Home in Harvey. She loved her job and the people she worked with and cared for. She suffered a work related injury in 1995 and retired. Her husband passed away on August 1, 1985.

Helen continued to make Harvey her home and lived a full retirement. She embroidered, quilted, baked, cooked, played cards and loved to play bingo. Spending time with her children and grandchildren was precious to her.

Helen is survived by two sons, Gary (Cindy) of Ulysses, Kansas, Ronnie (Teri) of St. Joseph, Missouri; three daughters, Connie (Donnie) Ensz of Bismarck, ND, Ruth (Randy) Edwards of Ulysses, Kansas, JoAnn (Tom) Martwick of Drake, ND; 30 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; sister, Mabel Pister, Minot; daughter-in-law, Marjorie Pister, Ulysses, Kansas. She is also survived by two special friends, Vera Risovi and Marilyn Schmidt.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Roger; an infant daughter; grandson, Timmy Ensz; four brothers, Leonard, Lester, Norman, Virgil; sister, Myrtle Hirchert
