Helen C Grad's Obituary
Helen C. Grad, 78, Harvey, ND died Friday, May 06, 2011 at the St. Aloisius Nursing Home, Harvey.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 10 at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Selz, ND.
Visitation will be Monday from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. with prayer services at 7 p.m. at Hertz Funeral Home, Harvey, ND.
Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Helen was born on October 5, 1932 to Sigmund and Katherine (Jaeger) Schneibel on the family farm near Fulda, ND. She attended rural school through the eighth grade and had to quit after her mother passed away to help at home. She was very proud that later on in life she received her graduation equivalence diploma. Helen married Peter Grad on November 17, 1952 in Fulda. They moved to the Grad family farm near Selz and where they proceeded to raise their seven children. Helen assisted on the farm and also worked at the Eagles Club, Pioneer Store, Lowe's Greenhouse and in the St. Aloisius Medical Center's Laundry and Dietary departments, all in Harvey.
Helen was an active member of the St. Anthony Catholic Church in Selz and was a member and officer in the Christian Mother's and Altar Society. She was a long time member of the Wells Eagles and VFW Auxiliaries in Harvey. Peter and Helen were married for 45 years before Peter's passing on August 13, 1997. She enjoyed camping, fishing, playing cards, gardening, reading and spending time with her family and grandkids. She will be dearly missed by everyone who loved her.
Helen is survived by four sons, Robert (Carol) Grad of Maddock, Bruce (Carollynn) Grad of Westminster, CO, Gerard (Eleanor) Grad of Harvey, Clifford (Kathy) Grad of Dickinson; three daughters, Jane (Wayne) Rademacher of Underwood, Nancy Hansen of Fargo, Helen (Darwin) Hauser of Maple Grove, MN; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; four step grandchildren; six step great-grandchildren; two brothers, Louis Schneibel of Littleton, CO, Leonard Schneibel of Harvey; four sisters, Elizabeth Marquart of Minot, Rebecca Cusey of Grand Rapids, MN, Pauline Weiland of Beresford, SD, Barbara Schafer, Lewistown, MT.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents; husband; grandson, Tommy Grad; six brothers, Sigmund, Anthony, Joseph, August, Leo and Maurus; two sisters, Mary Schneibel and Eleanor Neiss.
