Helen (Dockter) Bonnet was born on July 11, 1917 to John and Mary (Spear) Dockter.  Helen was of German-Russian decent. She was born and grew up on the family farm. Helen attended the Sheridan County Consolidated School until the 8 th grade.  She then lived and worked on the family farm until she married Albert Bonnet on January 17, 1935 at the Evangelical Church in McClusky. Albert and Helen had two boys. Alvin, born July 28, 1935 and Harley, born November 5, 1936. Albert and Helen purchased a farm 11 miles north and 3 miles east of Mercer on County Road 8, in Sheridan County, from Helen's brother, Johnny. They lived there for 39 years.  Helen moved into Mercer, after Albert's death in 1984 . At the time of Albert's death, Helen and Albert had been married 49 years.  Helen was always very proud of that, fact.

Helen's strongest attribute was certainly, her faith. She relied strongly on it.  She lived each and every day by God's direction.  Her famous line was "Work hard, Obey God, and Say Your Prayers!"  Helen was a member of the Mercer Baptist Church

Helen was a gracious and very proud woman. Also, very private, and had very strong beliefs about her political party. Over the years, Helen's proudest moments were being beside Albert, whether it would be doing something on the farm, helping in the fields, in her gardens, or playing a mean game of aggravation. Helen is fondly remembered for her amazing cooking and baking skills. Helen was always very grateful for everything they had and proud of the family farm they had built up and made so prosperous. Helen was also known to enjoy dancing and going various places to play bingo.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Albert, sons, Harley and Alvin, four siblings, Walter, Johnny, Art and Eleanor, and one grandchild, Darla Just.

Helen is survived by 6 grand-kids, Brian and Rose Bonnet, West Fargo, Tim and Deb Bonnet, West Fargo, Denice (Bonnet) and Paul Suess, Williston, Darcey (Bonnet) and Dennis Sharp, Fairbanks, AK, Deb (Bonnet) and Steve Bauman, Lander, WY
